Belt-Tech has established itself on the market by the quality of its products. To ensure our customers satisfaction, controls have been implemented for each of our processes. During our visit, we will focus on the tests that will enable us to manufacture a quality product.
Raw materials :
At Belt-Tech, all raw material used in the fabrication of the product are controlled. The yarn is monitored for its linear density, tensile strength and humidity percentage required for our production. There are also controls on dyeing products to ensure that they will enable us to reproduce the colors required by the customers.
The yarn is received in bundles from our suppliers and is then placed on beams; this is the warping process. During this process, a visual inspection will detect physical defects in the yarn. Moreover, an automated inspection system with photoelectric devices enable us to inspect the yarn thoroughly and to detect defects unperceivable to the eye. Yarn tension of all beams is also monitored at each beam to ensure the stability of our process.
According to the type of product manufactured, the yarn might be sent to the twisting department after the warping process. Twisting is a process used to bind two filament yarns or more and to apply a specific twist. At this stage, a device will inspect and ensure the twisting degree. Visual inspections are also made of the appearance of the spools and to ensure that there are no defects in the quality of yarn. Twisted yarn spools are then sent to a warping process to be placed on beams. There also, visual and automated inspections will reveal defects on the beams.
The beams are then sent to the weaving process where they will be used as warp yarn on the looms. Bundled yarn, which has been inspected upon its reception, is also used on the looms as warp yarn. At the weaving process, the webbing is greige; it has not been dyed and its color is natural. Weavers visually inspect the greige webbing by verifying the process to detect problems at the source. The webbing physical characteristics such as width, weight and the number of picks/cm are inspected by the quality control at each loom start-up. Width is also inspected by the weavers who monitor the process stability by means of control cards.
The greige webbing is then sent to the dyeing and finishing department. At this stage, the webbing will be dyed and go through the finishing or printing process as required by the customer. The same physical characteristics will be inspected as in the weaving department; however, many other inspections will be made. The webbing color is controlled with a spectrophotometer to ensure that it is within the customers tolerances. All other tests are carried out in the laboratory.
Our in-house laboratory is equipped to test webbing according to the national and international quality standards, namely FMVSS, ASTM, JISD, ECC and those of the major automobile manufacturers. Physical tests such as tensile strength, elongation, wear resistance, flame resistance are performed on all webbings. Capability studies (Cpk) are conducted concerning the physical characteristics. Chemical tests are also performed to check the fastness of a color to friction, staining and light.
All our production is visually inspected before being shipped out to the customer. Moreover, our inspection tables are equipped with devices which will detect physical defects.
When the customer so requires, we will cut the webbing in determined lengths before shipping through a hot cut process. Statistical controls are performed to measure the length and thickness of sealed ends.
